Mango Cake and Murder A Funny Quick Read Culinary Mystery Mom and Christy Cozy Mysteries Book 1 edition by Christy Murphy Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

Mango Cake and Murder - #1- Heartwarming and funny. I love the relationship between the mother and daughter; they reminded me of other m/d relationships like Joy Luck Club, etc. The mother is wise, caring, sensible, a matchmaker (her daughter's) and is loved by all. The daughter realizes how great and loved her mother is and there's the extended family, too. A love interest and a cat with personality. Can't forget the murder and the characters involved with that family. A funny, quickly read suspense.

Apple Pies and Alibis - #2 - Another funny book. A well written comedy with a wonderful cast of characters supporting Mom and Christy as they solve another mysterious death, find a sandwich thief and the employee selling company secrets; while they successfully caterer parties and luncheons. When you finish the book, you're sad, but still happy from reading, that the book is finished and you don't have Milkshakes and Murder on hand.

Milkshakes and Murder #3 - They're at it again! Another well written, fun filled story with our favorite ladies and a well thought out plot that keeps the reader immersed in the intrigue, suspense and now, a touch of romance. The characters are interesting and the dialog real. Some of the characters are developing into their full potential and it's fun to watch the growth. There's new characters that will be seen more in future books. Ms. Murphy doesn't disappoint the reader with her writing and sense of humor.

Mocha and Murder #4 - This is a pretty good story! Well written, funny, intriguing and a different path followed than in previous books. Add a PASSEL of new characters, interesting and entertaining, along with a plot that keeps the reader interested. The reader isn't disappointed with the author's writing style and her sense of humor.

The Secret Truth of Time - I've read Mango Cake and Murder, and Apple Pies and Alibis, and was surprised at the difference between those books and The Secret Truth of Time. Totally and completely apples and oranges. This well written paranormal book is fast paced and difficult to put down. I read it in one sitting. The characters are interesting and the plot is intriguing. The Time Travel alone is a major character! Ms. Murphy is one heck of a storyteller. Don't expect humor and lightheartedness in this story. It is spellbinding!

Mango Cake and Murder A Funny Quick Read Culinary Mystery Mom and Christy Cozy Mysteries Book 1 edition by Christy Murphy Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Christy Murphy takes a rather unique first person approach in this delightful and different tale about a mother and daughter catering and mystery-solving team. Normally, first person books focus on the author as the main character. However, this tale has Christy (the first person character's name--like the author) expressing the story in the first person with her mother (Jo) as the more central character.

Jo is a diminutive woman with a large ability for finding clues and suspects. Christy is no slouch as she has a nearly eidetic (a.k.a. photographic) memory for crime scenes. Their interactions are not only helpful for solving the mystery of "who done it" but also provides interesting depth to their character development. Supporting characters add further interest to the story.

This is a fun story and I look forward to other works by Ms. Murphy.
I really enjoyed this mom & daughter mystery solving duo. My mom and myself were always very close, and we always seemed to be the solvers of the family, and how I always wished for my own daughter and myself to be as close, however, my co-workers told me I should write a book of my life with my kids, cause I always told them of the antics they pulled, I might not hve thought thrpey were funny at the time, but I would look back at them later and laugh, so I just loved this storyline so much, I can't wait to read the next book, and hopefully many more books will come from this author. The characters were strong personalities, which I do enjoy reading about, however, I would have love to know if there was a actual recipe for. amt woukd have been cute to enclose in at the end page
Christy moves back to the small town of Fletcher Canyon with some "loving pushing" by her mother, Jo. Jo wants Christy to help her with her catering business. Since Christy is recently divorced, she moves back in with mom. They cater a birthday party for a rich man who turned 85. But when Christy goes to bring the "man of the hour" to the party she finds him dead. Who would want to kill an 85 year old man? Detective Cooper arrests Christy's cousin, Celia, because Celia was his private nurse and her fingerprints where found on the medication bottles and pills. Now Momma Jo and Christy must prove that Celia is innocent. Can they do that? Do they figure out who actually did kill Harold and why? Read the book to find out. I received a copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion and voluntary.
A short but interesting and enjoyable story. I enjoyed the delightful interaction between mother, daughter, and all the cousins and neighborhood friends. Character development was surprisingly insightful for so short a book. The writing was basically good, but there were numerous small errors in grammar and punctuation, all of which should have been caught by careful editing (i.e., "unflattering manor" instead of "unflattering manner"; a "singular" table, rather than a "single" table). There were enough of these mistakes to be irritating to the careful reader, so perhaps they can be caught and fixed in another edition. Still, this was an fine beginning to a series, and I look forward to reading some of the subsequent books.
Quirky mother and daughter catering business with a little investigating on the side. Christy and her mother Jo manage to live and work together with minor disagreements. The love between the two is easy to see. Add a new inhabitant in the form of a cat that doesn't like Christy to make her life miserable. There are colorful characters throughout the story with cousin Celia who is arrested for murder and many townspeople who believe she did it. There are other viable suspects but the ladies manage to figure out who the killer really is.

This is a light-hearted, easy to read cozy mystery.
